At the MWC 2024, OPPO showcased its new Air Glass 3 as its latest augmented reality glasses. It looks like a normal pair of glasses but don't it fool you, it is capable of quite a few things so read on below to check it out.

Dubbed as an Extended Reality glasses by OPPO, the Air Glass 3 is a prototype that can display important information or images through the lenses. There are tiny microLED projectors with up to 1000 nits peak brightness for each lens as well as a refractive index of 1.70. The refractive index means reducing the rainbow effects when natural lights shine on the glasses.

Weighing at just 50g, OPPO is calling this the world's lightest binocular AR glasses and even has speakers built-in the frames. Users can make network calls with the glasses and for privacy, the company also integrated a "reverse sound field technology" so that the people nearby you can't hear your conversations.

As an OPPO product, it needs to be paired with an OPPO phone that is running on ColorOS 13 and above. After pairing with it, a new voice assistant AI, OPPO said the company's own AndesGPT will appear and start interacting with you based on your needs. This includes searching for information online or even making travel plans.

Besides that, the Air Glass 3 can also do music playback, and colour image browsing, and in the future, the glass will be able to perform teleprompter, navigation, timer, translation, and health and fitness. The controls are on the frames via touch pads.

Since this is a prototype, all the functions mentioned above on the Air Glass 3 are only available in China. OPPO is probably refining it a bit further before going commercial with it. After all, the predecessor - Air Glass 2 was also a prototype shown two years ago and still much work needs to be done.
