Previously, we reported on the OPPO MariSilicon Y, the company’s self-developed audio SoC with the first lossless wireless audio technology. Well, OPPO may follow up on the aforementioned chipset and its impressive MariSilicon X imaging NPU with a full-fledged smartphone mobile processor in the near future.

This is according to recent reports and leaks in China which claim that the Chinese tech giant is in the midst of developing an in-house SoC for smartphones to rival Qualcomm, MediaTek and even Apple. As reported by GizmoChina, the leaks claim that the OPPO SoC will launch as early as next year.

The leak was by a digital blogger who has alleged access to the Taiwanese semiconductor (TSMC) industry chain and claims that the planned release date is in the second quarter of 2023. The tipster further claimed that the SoC’s design is almost completed and is bound for a first trial flow soon.

Moreover, the alleged in-house OPPO chipset will be based on a 4nm manufacturing process and has an external fabric 5G modem. Of course, do take this information with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed as of yet.
