A recent report by centerpointresearch.com seems to state that OPPO is currently the top-selling smartphone brand in the Chinese market for the first time in January 2021. Based on the graph shown in the report, OPPO managed to capture 21% of the market followed by vivo with 20% while Huawei, Apple, and Xiaomi at 16%.
The rise of OPPO was likely due to the decline of Huawei’s market share, as well as the fact that OPPO offers more affordable 5G smartphones such as the Reno5 5G compared to other competitors in China. It is best to note that market trends in Malaysia are vastly different, so do take the report with a grain of salt when making your next smartphone purchase.
