Finally, OPPO's long-awaited ColorOS 12 software update is rolling out now as we speak. As previously reported, the new OS will arrive on the OPPO Find X3 Pro in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, and more OPPO phones will be covered in the coming months.

While we have yet to play ColorOS 12 around, OPPO said that 'inclusivity' is the central theme of the software. It was designed to be lightweight, clean and customisable to the OPPO user. There are now softer icons, animations and information frameworks for different languages and cultures.

On top of that, OPPO also said that the team have addressed the issues of lags and stutters after prolonged usage. In the anti-fragmentation and intelligent resource allocation, it is said to be improved with a low 2.75% system ageing rate in three years, an average of 30% lower memory occupation and 20% lower battery consumption. Moreover, more than 300 improved animations are now more lifelike thanks to the Quantum Animation Engine.

Other notable ColorOS 12 features include a new PC Connect, 3-Finger Translate powered by Google Lens, FlexDrop and Phone Manager. Security and privacy features are improved as well from Android 12 out of the box, including Privacy Dashboards, Approximate Location Sharing and Microphone and Camera Indicators. Users can control their privacy more with Private System, Private Safe, App Lock and others.

Four years of regular security patch updates are guaranteed by OPPO as well.
