Official Huawei Watch D renders and leaked demo shows blood pressure cuff hands-on

Official renders of the upcoming Huawei Watch D have appeared on VMALL.com while a separate leaked demo has revealed the inner inflatable cuff said to be able to more accurately measure blood pressure. Looking much like the Huawei Watch Fit with its rectangular watch face, the Watch D is expected to be revealed in just a bit on 23 December.

In general, while some smartwatches may offer blood pressure measurement, most do so by calculating this based on the heart rate sensor. However, this is not as accurate as more traditional inflatable pressure cuffs, but the aforementioned strap accessory for the Watch D should offer better blood pressure measurement.

Apparently you can measure blood pressure with the Huawei Watch D just like you'd normally do with a smartwatch

Previously, this inflatable cuff accessory appeared in a user manual video showing how to remove it and use it. In that video, users were recommended to place their hands in a certain way to get the most optimum reading but the most recent demo shows that you can still get a reading by keeping your wrist straight.

We expect that the inflatable cuff isn’t the most comfortable thing to wear when exercising so it’s good that it can be removed. Expected tech specs for the Huawei Watch D include 32MB RAM and 4GB of storage but this has yet to be confirmed just yet. No Malaysia price or release dates either but local pricing is expected to be 2998 yuan (~RM1986).

At that sort of price, we think that it’d be mostly popular with those who already have hypertension or high blood pressure rather than your typical sporty fitness tracking user, but it does offer something more than most smartwatches.
