Joining the ranks such as GoPro, Sony and Xiaomi, Olympus just unveiled their entry to the action camera line-up, called the Tough TG-Tracker. Apart from the obviously Tough inspired design, there are many features that puts this camera above the pack.
The camera is a compact action cam, that is designed in a long form, rather than the wide form like the GoPro. It has a 1/2.3 inch sensor that takes photos at 8 megapixel and videos at 4K/30p and 1080/60p video recording options. It comes with a fixed F2.0 13.9mm equiv. Lens for good images and video in any lighting condition. Plus, it comes with a 1.5" flip-out (but non-rotating) LCD and a built-in lamp with 30 and 60 lumen settings, the latter of which can be used for a flashlight mode.
A first in any action cam, it comes with a 5-axis stabilization feature which will help during bumpy rides for a smoother end video. Also it is tough, as it is waterproof to 30m/100ft, shockproof from 2.1m/7ft, freezeproof to -10C/+14F and crushproof to 100kg feet/220pound feet.
We will have to wait until Olympus Malaysia announce their local pricing soon.
