Samsung has unveiled new security features that will debut with One UI 8, including quantum-resistant encryption, KEEP (Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection), and an upgraded Knox Matrix.

These updates aim to strengthen privacy and user control on Galaxy devices as AI tools become more deeply integrated into daily use.

What happened?

As part of its ongoing push into AI and secure mobile computing, Samsung is enhancing One UI 8 with several new data protection features.

The update introduces KEEP, a system designed to isolate and encrypt app-specific data—especially for apps that rely on Galaxy AI services like Now Brief and Smart Suggestions.

KEEP uses Knox Vault, Samsung’s hardware-based security platform, to create a protected environment within the device.

This ensures that sensitive app data is stored separately and cannot be accessed without user authentication, offering an extra layer of privacy for on-device AI processes.

Meanwhile, the Knox Matrix system is being upgraded with new cross-device security capabilities. If any linked Galaxy device is compromised, users will automatically be logged out of their Samsung account, and alerts will be sent to other connected devices.

A new dashboard, titled “Security status of your devices”, will provide real-time information and recommended actions to contain threats.

One UI 8 will also upgrade Secure Wi-Fi to support post-quantum encryption. This makes Samsung one of the first major smartphone manufacturers to implement protection against potential hacking threats posed by future quantum computing technology.

These features will launch alongside new Galaxy devices expected at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event on 10 July 2025, likely debuting with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.

A wider rollout of One UI 8 will follow, depending on model and region, including Malaysia.

New security features in One UI 8

KEEP (Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection):

  • Creates isolated encrypted storage for apps using Galaxy AI
  • Works with features like Now Brief and Smart Suggestions
  • Protected by Knox Vault for hardware-based security

Knox Matrix Enhancements:

  • Detects threats across linked Galaxy devices
  • Triggers auto logout from Samsung accounts if a device is compromised
  • Offers centralised threat alerts and guidance via a new dashboard

Secure Wi-Fi with Post-Quantum Encryption:

  • Adds quantum-resistant encryption protocols to Wi-Fi security
  • Aims to future-proof devices against quantum computing threats
  • Builds on existing Secure Wi-Fi tools available on Samsung devices

Do these new security tools in One UI 8 make you feel more confident using Galaxy AI features in Malaysia and beyond? Will KEEP and Knox Matrix change how you protect your data across Samsung devices?
