Every year, Qualcomm equips the top flagship smartphones with its latest Snapdragon 8 Gen series chipsets. It's the same for the OnePlus 12, which came with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. And now, it's a Qualcomm teaser showing what's likely the next-gen chipset on a OnePlus device.
In the teaser (via Weibo), Qualcomm mentioned that it's the next generation flagship Snapdragon chipset, undoubtedly the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. This chipset will feature the CPU architecture known as Oryon, which was acquired from chip startup NUVIA. For your info, Qualcomm first launched the Oryon CPU with the Snapdragon X Elite. This SoC can be found in some laptops launched in recent months, like the Dell XPS 13 (9345).
More importantly, the smartphone in the Qualcomm teaser looks very similar to the OnePlus 12. As such, it's believed that this is the OnePlus 13. Interestingly enough, a reliable source said the phone would use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Extreme Edition chipset. This implies that the OnePlus 13 would have an overclocked variant of the next flagship Snapdragon chipset, possibly a tiny bump in CPU clock speeds for faster single-core performance.
Lastly, the teaser asked viewers to wait for the Snapdragon Summit to be held from 22 to 24 October 2024. Until then, stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
