So it's official, the OnePlus 6 image is here (the cover image) and although it's not a full model shot, we have learned that it will 100% come with a top-notch design and Carl Pei, OnePlus co-founder is trying to let everyone know why having a notch is a good thing.
In a talk with The Verge, Carl Pei explained that having a notch allows smartphone manufacturers to maximize the screen space as much as they can, as well as moving the notification bar to the top so that users can have more content on the display. Pei also mentioned that if it wasn't for Apple, OnePlus might not have adopted this as soon as possible. On a side note, Pei confirms that the OnePlus 6 will still use a headphone hack, so that's nice to know.
Another fun fact of the notch size is measured 19.616mm x 7.687mm, so how do you envision that? Well, rest assured it's smaller than the iPhone X's notch, as Pei doesn't think that the phone needs to have a Face ID technology on it, so at the moment it has a front camera, LED light and ambient light sensor. Of course, the notch will hide as well when you watch a video horizontally, OnePlus also tested at least 1000 apps to make sure it works with the notch for notifications and they have moved the clock to the left side for more messages on the taskbar icons.
Aside from that, the screen-to-body ratio is around 90% and it will likely be released in June just like every year. Also, Pei urges Android users to "learn to love the notch."
