OnePlus Watch could come with in-house OS instead of Google's Wear OS

For OnePlus, the journey to build its very own smartwatch allegedly started a few years ago. The company had plans to unveil it back in 2016, but things didn't pan out then and it may have been postponed again. Moreover, the latest rumour could hint at why it's taking so long.

According to Max Jambor, who recently said that the OnePlus Watch has been indefinitely postponed, the smartwatch won't be running on Google's Wear OS. In other words, OnePlus could be developing an in-house OS for its wearable and has run into issues, which could be one of the reasons behind the delays in releasing the device.

This is a rather strange move, considering how Google and OnePlus have been working closely when it comes to the Android OS. Wear OS is also a more commonly used and developed platform, so we're not sure why OnePlus would insist on releasing its own platform. But while Jambor has been known to be fairly accurate with his leaks, it's still better to wait for OnePlus to confirm things.

With that said, what do you think an alternate wearable OS needs to make it a better option compared to Wear OS? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news like this.
