2025 is the year of AI-powered smartphone UIs. More brands are integrating AI features into their devices, and OnePlus is no different. Recently, the company launched the latest version of OxygenOS - OxygenOS 16. This new version has a heavier focus on AI, while promising a smoother user experience.
OxygenOS 16
The new version, OxygenOS 16, features an updated OnePlus AI with not only improved but also new AI features. One of its features is Mind Space, which is similar to Nothing's Essential Space. Previously, Mind Space only allowed users to scan and store info from screenshots, so its usefulness was limited.

However, OxygenOS 16 adds Gemini AI integration to Mind Space. This means you can now use Gemini Search for content stored inside the space. You can also ask Gemini to provide a summary on a particular topic, or suggest an itinerary for a trip using info you've recorded.
Of course, there are also new features to OnePlus AI. The list of new AI features includes AI Writer, AI Recorder, AI Scan, AI Portrait, and AI Perfect Shot. As you can tell, some of the new features are found in the camera app.

Improved user experience
Additionally, OxygenOS 16 promises to offer a more fluid UI and improved performance. OnePlus has expanded the Parallel Processing feature, which now works to provide a smoother and more responsive user experience across more parts of the UI. You also get more customisations to the lock screen, new widgets, enhanced cross-platform connectivity (to PC or tablet), and more.
Release date confirmed
OnePlus has confirmed that the Android 16-based OxygenOS 16 will roll out next month, starting with the OnePlus 13 series smartphones. More devices are expected to get access in December 2025 and the first quarter of 2026.
