OnePlus has officially confirmed that the OnePlus 15 will debut on the global stage, not just in China. Alongside the launch announcement, the company unveiled a striking new colour option dubbed Sand Storm, showcasing fresh materials and construction choices that hint at durability and design ambition.
Sand Storm Model
While OnePlus had already shown a black variant of the 15 at a Qualcomm event, the introduction of Sand Storm marks a new chapter in the phone’s styling. The edition features a micro-arc oxidation (MAO) coating applied to the frame and camera housing, which the company claims offers wear resistance — “3.4× harder than aluminium” and “1.3× tougher than titanium.”

For the rear panel, OnePlus is leaning into fibreglass construction in the Sand Storm model — a lightweight material known for resilience. It remains to be seen whether these materials and finishes will be exclusive to Sand Storm or will be available across other variants.
What Else We Know (So Far)
- The flagship is expected to run on Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (OnePlus hinted at next-gen chipset support)
- Display tech is tipped to hit a 165Hz refresh rate, aligning with OnePlus’s “Ultra-High Refresh Era” ambitions.
- The design changes include a departure from OnePlus’s traditional circular rear camera setup, moving toward a more angular or rectangular (pill-shaped) module.
Global Launch and Market Strategy
OnePlus says the 15 will not be region-locked — it will receive a global launch, continuing the brand’s push to unify availability across markets. However, following past patterns, it’s likely that the China release will happen first, with international availability following behind.
We will likely see the OnePlus 15 landing in Malaysia, but maybe at a later date, just like the predecessor, which launched earlier this year in January 2025. Until then, stay tuned for the official news coverage only at TechNave.com.
