OnePlus make the cameras 'disappear' on its prototype phone, Concept One

Earlier, OnePlus has revealed that they are working on a prototype phone, OnePlus Concept One, and it was rumoured to be a foldable smartphone. Well, it turns out to be a false alarm. Today, OnePlus has officially posted a sneak peek on Twitter and it appeared to be another normal-looking smartphone. However, it is going to come with a special design tweak which is called the ‘disappearing cameras’.

The cameras at the back are designed to be invisible, as they are hidden in plain sight with a special electrochromic glass. This type of glass can also be switched between tinted and opaque with an electrical signal, which lets OnePlus hide the lenses without using any mechanical covers.

It is also said that the glass comes from the material that used to build McLaren cars, as OnePlus has collaborated with the car manufacturer before to build its smartphones. Other than that, the OnePlus Concept One is going to feature a color-shifting glass technology as well, with a mix of an orange and black colour scheme like the one we’ve seen on OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition.

Although it is not a foldable smartphone from what we expected, at least we still can see some interesting moves pulled by OnePlus to attract attention for its upcoming product. Let’s wait for CES 2020 to happen and unveil more details about the highly anticipated device!
