Ookla Speedtest’s latest Speedtest Global Index yielded some surprising results for Malaysia, whereby Johor Bahru is found to have a faster average mobile internet download speed than Kuala Lumpur. Furthermore, both cities ranked favourably worldwide too, placing 25th and 27th respectively.
In the February Edition of the Median City Speeds of the Speedtest Global Index, Johor Bahru climbed 8th spots to 25th place worldwide, 12th in Asia, with an average download speed of 149.01Mbps, upload speed of 26.12Mbps and latency of 22ms. However, the city didn’t fare as well in the Fixed Broadband rankings, placing 47th worldwide with an average of 142.07Mbps download speed, an average of 64.43Mbps upload speed and 8ms latency.
As for Kuala Lumpur, the capital city dropped 3 spots in the mobile internet Median City Speeds to number 27th worldwide, and 13th in Asia. The average download speed for mobile internet in Kuala Lumpur is 145.45Mbps, the average upload speed 28.58Mbps and the latency is 17ms.
