Building our own hardware, in addition to our other partnerships, will help all of us meet the world’s growing demand for AI.https://t.co/3vLZFPO0jF
According to OpenAI, the development of this custom chip enables the integration of knowledge and experience from the development of cutting-edge AI models directly into the hardware, thereby opening up new capabilities in the performance and efficiency of AI systems.
In total, the two companies will collaborate to produce a custom chip with a capacity of 10 gigawatts, an amount of energy estimated to be equivalent to the electricity consumption of more than 8 million households in the United States.
In comparison, a typical nuclear reactor only produces around one gigawatt of energy.
