In response to the recent announcement about Malaysia's Google Data Centre and Cloud Region, Oracle has announced a massive investment of over US$6.5 billion (~RM27.3 billion) to establish a public cloud region in Malaysia. This strategic move aims to support the nation's growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud services. The new cloud region will provide access to over 150 infrastructure and SaaS services, helping to boost Malaysia's digital economy and AI-driven innovation.

The upcoming Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) region will give Malaysian organizations the tools to modernize applications, migrate workloads to the cloud, and innovate with AI and data analytics. Oracle plans to offer cutting-edge services like the OCI Generative AI Agents, NVIDIA-powered AI supercomputing resources, and the comprehensive Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite. With this, Malaysia will become home to one of 12 OCI regions in the Asia Pacific.

The new cloud region will not only benefit large corporations but also small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. These businesses will have access to world-class cloud and AI infrastructure, helping them compete globally. The announcement has been met with enthusiasm by Malaysian officials, where Oracle’s investment will strengthen Malaysia’s position as a digital investment hub in Southeast Asia.

Customers and partners in Malaysia will gain low-latency access to Oracle’s cloud services, enhanced data security, and control over data residency. The inclusion of NVIDIA AI services further underscores the region’s potential to become a hub for advanced AI development.
