Other than the Samsung Galaxy S21 series, the OnePlus 9 series is also a much-anticipated flagship smartphone series that is coming early next year. The series is expected to bring two devices including the standard OnePlus 9 and a Pro variant. However, a new leak is suggesting that there could be one more model joining and it's a 9E.
Tipster Max Jambor claims that the brand is also working on a model named OnePlus 9E that is to be launched together with the usual models we get from OnePlus. For now, it is currently unsure where the 9E will fit within the flagship range. For the name 9E, the source guesses that it could be the lowest variant of the series, just like how Samsung launched the Galaxy S10e that is more compact and affordable compared to other devices in the S10 series.
If it's indeed a "lite" version of the OnePlus 9, it will be a device that comes with lower tech specs here and there to fit the affordable price tag. The source mentions that it would be nice to see a OnePlus device with a smaller screen rather than the large 6.55-inch and 6.78-inch displays featured on the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro respectively. Through a recent survey, the source has found out that users are more likely to sacrifice battery capacity for a smaller smartphone.
