The weekend saw the Mountain Dew ‘Dew Challenge 2016’ gave away cash prizes amounting over RM100,000 ringgit for the two gaming events that was held at Berjaya Times Square – DoTA 2 challenge and the Mobile Gaming Challenge. The grand finals for the two events were held in Kuala Lumpur, where the champions were crowned in front of an excited crowd.
The DoTA 2 tournament started from Penang and all the way to Johor Baharu for qualifying rounds and the top eight teams all headed to Kuala Lumpur the grand finals. The winner for the DoTA 2 challenge was in the end awarded to Fantastic Gaming which went against ZSY_Reborn in a nail biting closing match. Fantasic Gaming walked away with RM60,000 as the winner of the DoTA 2 challenge.
For the mobile game challenge, over 200 people from all over Malaysia joined in where they challengers were on foot around KL as they searched for hidden virtual Mountain Dew using the augmented-reality enabled app on their smartphones. The winner was Gilbert Chee, and he walked away RM 15,000 ringgit richer as the competition day ended at Berjaya Times Square.
