With today being the last day to register for the Central Database Hub (PADU), the database has gotten quite a surge of signups over the past few days. As of 11.59pm yesterday (30 March), 10.85 million people have registered for PADU, with the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) targeting a 50 per cent registration rate by the deadline tonight.

Taking to its official Facebook account, PADU said that 10.85 million out of 30.08 million people have updated their info on the database. The 30.08 million figure is based on existing administration data, 21.97 million of which are adults age 18 and above.

According to Bernama, DOSM Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said that he was optimistic that the target of 50 per cent of people to register and update their personal information on PADU can be achieved by midnight tonight. To achieve this, 1902 physical registration counters nationwide were open until 5pm today.

Meanwhile, as reported by FMT, Mohd Uzir said that those who choose not to update their info on PADU will have their basic data automatically registered in the database. The data is collected from various agencies, though they’re only basic data instead of the ‘dynamic’ data that PADU seeks to get.
