The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) today warned Malaysians to be wary of a viral link related to a fake lucky draw allegedly organised by Petronas. It is believed that the link will take users to phishing website designed to obtain user data for illicit use.

Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK) director Datuk Mohd Kamarudin Md Din said that the link was transmitted and has gone viral through WhatsApp. Bernama reported that the link would prompt users to answer four simple survey questions and send the link to 20 other people.

Petronas has nothing to do with the website and never conducted any such lucky draws. The phishing was made by irresponsible scammers trying to obtain personal data of users that fall for the tactic.

As a precautionary measure, the JSJK director advised the public to not browse the content of the website. Besides being a phishing site, JSJK also warned that it may contain trojans or malware that can harm the data stored on users' devices.
