The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has announced that it will be using In-Car Radar and ‘Intelligent Compound Online Payment System (iCOPS) devices throughout highways this festive season. Through both devices, the police can detect traffic offenders with summons arrears and warrants of arrest.

Specifically, In-Car Radar will be used as a speed limit detection for vehicles on the road. As for iCOPS, it is a technological device that checks vehicle registration numbers and accordingly, detects traffic offenders with outstanding summonses and traffic arrest warrants.

Bernama reported that PDRM would be stationing these devices on mobile modes and not focused only in on place. Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Razarudin Husain said that it was difficult to detect offenders on normal day but since it’s the festive season, these delinquents would be easier detected as they return to their hometown en masse.

Razarudin further stressed that those with warrants of arrest and outstanding summonses will be immediately detained on the road. They will then be taken to the nearest police station for the process of bail documentation and would then be asked to attend court for further action.
