The Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK) of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will apply artificial intelligence (AI) technology to streamline the enforcement or investigation process of commercial crimes. So, wat should you know about it?

For your information, Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department Director Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the use of the technology would be implemented soon, including through the use of chatbots to analyse evidence in an investigation.

“The use of this technology is expected to optimise the time management of an investigating officer and focus on several investigations at once. In the future, the use of AI will be expanded to evidence processing and so on.”

He said JSJK was confident that the technology could be used to assist in the implementation of several stages of investigations. These include forensic data analysis, data analysis or patterns of criminal cases, text content analysis such as messages, conversations, emails and the like, as well as identifying suspicious financial transactions.

Meanwhile, Ramli informed that throughout the period from January 1 to March 4, JSJK had opened 9,431 investigation papers related to commercial crimes, with total losses reaching RM501.3 million. Online fraud was the largest contributor, recording 8,322 cases or 88.2% of the total cases, with total losses of RM368.69 million.
