In continuing its effort to push out more Virtual Reality (VR) content for customers, PICO announced that it is now compliant with the OpenXR standard. This will allow developers to run OpenXR apps on PICO headsets with minimal modification, thus, more VR games.

Developed by the Khronos Group, OpenXR is a royalty-free open standard designed to simplify VR development by enabling developers to access more platforms while reusing the same code. This means developers can benefit from the OpenXR standard to achieve the best portability on PICO headsets. The OpenXR standard is compatible with all PICO headsets including PICO Neo 3 Pro/Pro Eye, PICO Neo3 link, PICO 4 and PICO 4 Enterprise.

Just last year, PICO introduced the lightweight all-in-one PICO 4 consumer headset as an accessible VR experience for everyone. The PICO 4 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chipset, Pancake Optics, a 4K+ resolution display and more. The introduction of the PICO 4 follows the launch of PICO’s first consumer headset, PICO Neo 3 Link, in May of last year.

Then in October, PICO launched PICO 4 Enterprise, a commercial-grade all-in-one VR headset powered for enterprise applications. It also compliments the PICO Neo3 Pro and Neo3 Pro Eye which focuses on deep eye-tracking technology in the healthcare industry.
