Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob recently commented regarding the federal government’s digitalisation agenda for our country and how 5G connectivity will play a huge role in the matter. Accordingly, he announced that as of right now, the 5G network coverage in Malaysia has now reached 30% in populated areas.
As reported by Bernama, Ismail further revealed that Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) has set several goals for 5G network coverage in our country. These include 40% coverage in populated areas by the end of 2022 and 80% coverage in populated areas by 2024.
Hence, the Prime Minister hopes that the digitalisation programme that has been implemented by various ministries and agencies will continue to be improved. This is important so as to maintain the current momentum and further drive the nation’s digitalisation agenda.
Meanwhile, Ismail also announced that the government will strengthen its cooperation with Microsoft Malaysia in the field of cyber security and online fraud cases to support Malaysia’s digital development vision. The prime minister said a comprehensive programme will be implemented for Keluarga Malaysia, including awareness forums, skills workshops and technical training for the public and private sectors.
