The Unity Government previously announced an RM200 eWallet credit aid for youths aged 18 to 20 years old, as well as university students within that age bracket under Budge 2023. Now, the eTunai Belia Rahmah will be expanded to all Malaysian university students regardless of age.
According to Bernama, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the matter during a recent dialogue session with students in UiTM Shah Alam. He asserted that this move was to ensure that the aid would benefit the group concerned.
During the session, the issue was raised by a representative who found that Budget 2023 put the category of the RM200 eWallet recipients to those aged 18 to 20. As such meant that students not within the age bracket can’t apply under the bachelor category.
The Prime Minister then asserted that he has made the decision for the eWallet aid to benefit all university students. Formerly called ePemula, the eTunai Belia Rahmah will cater to 2 million youths.
