PM Muhyiddin announced PEMULIH and extends the free 1GB daily data until the end of 2021

Today, our Prime Minister Muhyiddin has officially announced PEMULIH which is a new financial assistance scheme in this pandemic period. The target groups are those in the B40 (lower-income side) and M40 (middle-income) groups. Among the many highlights, here's what we learn about the tech side.

As expected, one of the highlights from the tech side is the internet access for Malaysians. The free daily 1GB for productivity purpose and online classes will continue to be provided by our local telcos until 31 December 2021. Initially, it was supposed to end on 31 July 2021.

By this initiative, the government has allocated RM500 million. About 44 million mobile subscribers will benefit from this but as a reminder, the free 1GB data cannot be used for entertainment such as your social media accounts, streaming services and of course, mobile gaming.
