As some states in Malaysia have reached an 80 per cent rate of vaccination for the adult population, the government is allowing more activities to resume with the need to adhere to the set guidelines and procedures. With that said, the cinemas in the country have also gotten greenlit to reopen to fully vaccinated individuals starting from 9 September.

According to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement, the cinema halls could only operate at 50 per cent audience capacity. However, it would still be good enough to relieve more than a million creative industry workers and artists in the country, as well as assisting more than 19,000 companies related to the industry.
