Yesterday, the Kota Madani project was announced by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This could be an interesting continuation from Tun Mahathir’s development of Putrajaya. So, what should you know about it?
Concepts for Kota Madani
For your information, Kota Madani has all the same visions as Putrajaya, but this time it integrates artificial intelligence (AI) technology, high-efficiency digital infrastructure and a green mobility system. The project was announced by the Prime Minister via his X account.
Additionally, the Kota Madani concept emphasises comprehensive and centralised basic facilities for the welfare of the people. Among the facilities that will be built within it are schools, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
Konsep Kota MADANI menekankan kemudahan asas yang menyeluruh dan berpusat demi kebajikan rakyat.

Moreover, the project will include financial institutions, health clinics, fire stations, police stations and mosques that will be built near residential areas.
Kota Madani - First phase
The first phase of Kota Madani involves the construction of around 3,000 residential units and a school, which is expected to be completed and fully operational by the end of 2027. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held on June 26.
When fully completed, Kota Madani within Mahathir's city will have an area of 41.28 hectares with 10,000 residential quarters for over 30,000 residents. Another attraction of Kota Madani is the incorporation of local cultural elements in line with efforts to preserve architecture and heritage.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said this development is a long-term strategic investment in shaping the future of Putrajaya as a model city that upholds MADANI values and is in line with the CHASE City vision (Clean, Healthy, Advanced, Safe, Eco Friendly).
