POCO M8 and M8 Pro 5G Malaysia release - up to 12GB+512GB and 6500mAh battery, starting price at RM999

To mark this new year, POCO officially unveiled the POCO M8 5G and POCO M8 Pro 5G in Malaysia. According to POCO, the M Series now represents a full-scale upgrade following the brand’s expansion into premium devices with the F8 Series. Here's everything you need to know about the tech specs, prices and availability.

The POCO M8 Pro Tech Specs

To start, the POCO M8 Pro 5G is equipped with a 6500mAh silicon-carbon battery, offering long-term durability with an expected lifespan of up to six years. Charging performance is 100W HyperCharge, allowing the device to reach a full charge in around 40 minutes, while reverse charging is at up to 22.5W.

For visual performance, it also features a 6.83-inch 1.5K CrystalRes Flow AMOLED display with advanced luminous materials and Sunlight Display 4.0, reaching a peak brightness of 3200 nits, supporting Dolby Vision and HDR10+ and TÜV Rheinland-certified. Dolby Atmos and Dual Gold Hi-Res Audio system support is present as well.

On the other hand, performance is handled by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 Mobile Platform. And for the first time in the M Series, the POCO M8 Pro 5G introduces the POCO IceLoop Cooling System with real liquid cooling. Connectivity enhancements include the Xiaomi Surge T1S Tuner for stronger signal reception and Xiaomi Offline Communication. The phone runs on Xiaomi HyperOS and integrates Google Gemini and Circle to Search for smarter everyday interactions.

Photography is led by a 50MP Light Fusion 800 main camera paired with optical image stabilisation, and video recording supports 4K at 30fps with built-in HDR through DXG High-Dynamic Range technology. There is also a new 32MP front camera with Ultra-Clear Portrait Algorithm, supported by AI-powered tools such as the AI Creativity Assistant and Dynamic Shots 2.0, enabling easier photo editing, motion capture, and creative effects.

Other than that, the POCO M8 Pro 5G is reinforced with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and SGS Premium Performance Certification, while carrying IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K dust and water resistance ratings, and Wet Touch Technology 2.0 for touchscreen responsiveness.

The POCO M8 5G Tech Specs

The POCO M8 5G features a 6.77-inch Flow AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3200 nits peak brightness, supported by DCI-P3 wide colour gamut, 12-bit colour depth and TÜV Rheinland eye-care certification. It is also the thinnest device in the M Series to date, with just 7.35mm of thickness, powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 Mobile Platform and a 5520mAh battery with 45W fast charging.

The POCO M8 5G is also equipped with a 50MP Light Fusion 400 main camera and a 20MP front camera, offering improved low-light performance and detailed selfies. Support for 4K video recording at 30fps adds versatility, while AI-powered features such as AI Beautify, AI Remove Reflection, and AI Sky simplify photo editing and creative enhancements.
