In case you missed Sony Interactive Entertainment's announcement on YouTube, the company has confirmed the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro. Many of the previous reports turned out to be true, including the design and features so read on below for more details.
Without beating around the bush, the purpose of the PS5 Pro is to achieve both higher fidelity graphics and 60FPS at the same time. For the uninitiated, gamers often have to choose either fidelity but in 30FPS which can be choppy at times, or 60FPS but sacrificing some of the graphics performance. The PS5 Pro can now finally offer the best of both worlds.
There are three key components in creating the PS5 Pro which are an upgraded GPU, advanced Ray Tracing and AI-Driven upscaling. The upgraded GPU is reported to have 67% more Compute Units, 28% faster memory and 45% faster gameplay rendering than the PS5. In addition, advanced Ray Tracing is twice and at times triple the speeds, whereas the PS Spectral Super Resolution, is an AI-driven upscaling using machine learning-based technology to provide super sharp image clarity.
On top of that, Sony also integrated PS5 Pro Game Boost, which can apply to more than 8,500 backwards-compatible PS4 games playable on the PS5 Pro. Furthermore, PS5 Pro will also launch with the latest wireless technology, Wi-Fi 7, in territories supporting this standard. VRR and 8K gaming are also supported, and players can add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive, or swap out console covers when they become available.
The PS5 Pro console will include a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller and a copy of Astro’s Playroom pre-installed in every PS5 Pro purchase. Preorders will begin on 126 September 26 2024 and it will be available on 7 November 2024 but only in four markets:
- USA - $699.99 (~RM3060)
- United Kingdom - £699.99 (~RM3994)
- Europe - €799.99 (~RM3359)
- Japan - ¥119,980 (~RM3674)
Also, you probably noticed that the PS5 Pro is a disc-less console, so you will need to purchase the Disc Drive accessory separately. There is no word yet when the PS5 Pro will arrive in Malaysia. From the looks of it, it's possible that we may need to wait until next year. Until then, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
