Based on a recent statement by MCMC, it seems that owners of parody, as well as fake accounts, are liable to be sued on the basis that these accounts are almost similar to well-known organisations which could potentially mislead the general public. But that’s not all, because the name looks very similar to the accounts they are parodying, it could potentially damage the original account’s reputation.

While MCMC managed to get in touch with both Twitter and Facebook, the social media platforms are a global company and some restrictions may not apply to them. With all that said, we, as the general public have to be more vigilant in parody, as well as fake accounts.
