Niantic has announced that a feature called “Buddy Adventure” will be added into its huge AR game, Pokémon Go. “Buddy Adventure” allows you to feed berries to your Pokémon and pat them virtually on their heads with your own hands.

The feature is said to be focusing on improving Niantic’s AR technology. As some of the mobile cameras nowadays are able to detect depth, they are able to integrate the ToF cameras with AR technology to make the game more exciting for the users of Pokémon Go. The users will also get to see their Pokémon interact with the surrounding such as breaking the wall and gliding on the floor.

Apart from that, “Buddy Adventure” will let you to see your friends’ Pokémon through the camera. You and your friends will be able to interact with each other’s Pokémon using own mobile cameras within one frame. In Photo Mode, you are able to take pictures with your friends and all their Pokémon at the same location. However, how many Pokémon can appear in it has not been confirmed yet as it is a feature designed for only small group of people.

Niantic didn’t share with us that whether the actions such as feeding and patting the Pokémon will gain any points to level up. It could just be another feature to let users interact more with the game. After all, this new function focuses on AR experiences at its core.

There’s no news on the release date of the feature yet but surely it is coming soon. Let us know what you think about this new feature on Pokémon Go! Stay tuned for more cool tech news on TechNave.com.
