Pebble aims to make a comeback as rePebble

Many of you may not remember it, but there used to be a smartwatch company called Pebble. In 2016, it was bought over by Fitbit, which was in turn bought over by Google in 2021. The brand hasn't been as popular since then, but its original founder has announced a comeback.

Recently, it was reported that Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky has announced the return of the smartwatch brand. Interestingly, it will be rebranded as rePebble and feature the open-source PebbleOS. Migicovsky plans to release a new smartwatch with this brand and has posted a progress update on the project.

So far, Migicovsky has revealed a few details about the project. First, the new rePebble will be like a Pebble Watch and "almost exactly as you (fans) remember it". He also showed a photo of a prototype with an e-ink display. In our opinion, the rebranded company plans to build a simpler smartwatch that would appeal to Pebble fans.

Honestly, it's hard to say whether the rePebble could thrive in today's crowded smartwatch space. But what do you think? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
