At the Malaysia Autoshow last May, Perodua exhibited their electric car (EV) prototype, the EMO-I, today they exhibited the EMO-II, and also shared answers with the media about their first EV. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, the new EV is in the final stages before manufacturing and there will be a '3rd Episode' before it is actually launched with specifications that are said to have a difference of around 2-3% from the final version.
In addition, Perodua is still developing this EV with a target travel distance of around 410km, 50 kWh battery, DC 20-80% charging as fast as 30 minutes, AC charging will take 8 hours with acceleration from 0-100 km/h as fast as 6.7 seconds. Based on the expected specifications above, it is possible that the AC charging provided is 7 kW.
Moreover, Perodua shared which of their electric cars will be offered in the price range of RM 50K-RM90K in line with Perodua's aspiration to become the most affordable EV manufacturer in Malaysia. But at that price, it is also likely that there will be several versions, including versions that may have a lower travel distance. Let's all look forward to the announcement of EMO-III or Episode 3 next year.
