The Line is a project that will build the world's longest building in Neom, Saudi Arabia. The project, believed to cost up to $1 trillion, will house 9 million people in a 170-kilometer-long building. Now, according to a report by the Saudi Gazette, construction of the first phase of The Line has begun. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, since two years ago only the building footprint has been dug. The first phase is called Hidden Marina and it is 2.5 kilometers long and 500m high. It will house a harbour for ships and also the world's highest stadium to be used for the 2034 World Cup.

When completed, Hidden Marina alone will have a floor area of 21 million square metres or 53 times the floor area of the PETRONAS Twin Towers. It will also be able to house 200,000 residents in 80,000 residential units when completed by 2030. The Line will house all basic necessities such as schools, shopping malls, public parks, hospitals and more in one building. Because everything is local, residents will fully utilize public transportation.
