We may see smartphones with 8GB of RAM coming soon to a hand near you as SK Hynix has just announced the development of a single memory chip incorporating that large amount of RAM, designed for use in smartphones, PC and Tablets.

The second company to create a high capacity memory chip for RAM use, the upcoming SK Hynix LPDDR4 memory incorporates four 2GB (16GB) DRAM ICs with a nominal data transfer rate or frequency of 3733MT/s (or about 3733MHz). It has a bandwidth of 29.8GB/s, and is built using the 21nm manufacturing process. It also supports UFS NAND flash memory, and is compatible with modern smart devices.

The day of large memory smart devices are upon us, so we may see in 2017 flagships or even mid-tier devices featuring this memory capacity as standard. Stay tuned to TechNave for more information on the upcoming memory upgrade news.
