Last month, ZTE launched the Nubia Z50S Pro in China, and it was a smartphone that's different from the norm. Even compared to camera-focused smartphones, the Nubia Z50S had a distinct characteristic - its 35mm lens. But the company could be working on a successor with an even more impressive 35mm camera phone.

The tipster to Digital Chat Station has leaked a photo showing an engineering sample of an upcoming Nubia smartphone. As you can see, there's a new phone with a very thick camera bump next to the Nubia Z50S Pro. According to the source, this is due to the main camera being a 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor with the same 35mm lens equipped on the Nubia Z50S Pro. It also features a similar design, so the new device could be a successor or an Ultra variant.

ZTE is allegedly working on optimising the design, probably to make it more compact than it currently is. As such, the company is unlikely to be launching this anytime soon. If you ask me, this design is too bulky and doesn't make it a compelling choice. The only way to cover it is to use a case, which could make it look bulkier.

But what do you think, would you be keen on a specialised camera phone like this? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
