Photos of Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 GPU allegedly leaked

When it comes to their consumer GPUs, Nvidia tends to keep things close to the chest. But news always has a way of leaking, especially when cameras are everywhere these days. The latest leak contains photos of what could be engineering samples of the GeForce RTX 3080 GPU to be leaked online.

First spotted by Chiphell, the alleged Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 features a rather beefy cooling solution. As you can see, the entire heatsink is huge and is accompanied by two fans with an unusual setup. According to Videocardz, the fans are placed different orientations - one facing up and the other facing down.

It looks like the idea here is to have one blowing air onto the circuit board and components, while the other draws out the hot air. The memory modules and GPU chip are also closer to the exhaust fan, so it should result in greater heat dissipation. Interestingly enough, the power connectors seem to have been moved from the usual location, while the I/O bracket is said to have the newer NVLink connector.

Nvidia is expected to launch its Ampere-based RTX 3000 series GPUs later this year, so it's not a surprise that we're starting to see leaks. But since they're supposed to be engineering samples, it's best not to assume that this is the final design. Still, what are your thoughts on this particular design?
