Just last week, Sony Interactive Entertainment unveiled the PlayStation Portal remote play and it would be released at the price of 199.99 USD | 219.99 EURO | 199.99 GBP | 29,980 YEN. That's around ~RM928 if converted directly to our local currency, but we don't think we will be seeing it soon in the Malaysian market.

According to the latest update, the PlayStation Portal remote player will launch in the US, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal first on 15 November 2023. The pre-order is now live at direct.playstation.com and for Canada and Japan, the launching date will be on 29 September 2023. Sony plans to add more regions for the remate play in the future.

To recap, the PlayStation Portal remote player needs an existing PS5 to work so that the user can play remotely anywhere in the house via WiFi. You must also have the games installed on the console, but it won't support PS VR2 games and games streamed through the PS Plus Premium cloud streaming service.

It sounds like a letdown if compared to the Steam Deck, ROG Ally and the Nintendo Switch. But on the one hand, it's also a good way to let the user play if a family member wants to watch the TV. The PlayStation Portal remote player features an 8-inch LCD panel that supports 1080p@60FPS.
