Power banks sales increased because of Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go has incredibly made people go out of their house more than usual, this of course also means that it drains their smartphones' battery faster. But it doesn't seem to matter to them since power banks are here to help, which also means this has helped battery pack manufacturers' businesses a lot.

Ever since the launch of Pokémon Go, power bank sales have gone through the rooftop like never before. According to the NDP, normally power banks are only up to around 4% year-over-year before the app's existence, right now - over 1.2 million units have been sold in just two weeks after it was released, and this is just in the USA.

“Pokémon Go is the summer’s hottest game partly because it utilizes features like location, motion sensors and augmented reality in your smartphone- however, these features consume more of the phone’s battery life. As a way to compensate for the extra battery usage, consumers are buying portable power packs so they can continue to play, uninterrupted.” Ben Arnold, executive director, industry analyst for consumer technology at The NPD Group.

So, looks like there's a good reason to bring along a power bank at all times now for a Pokémon Go Trainer. And just in case you haven't heard, Grab Malaysia is currently offering a GRABPOKEMON promotion to Malaysian Pokemon Go Trainers, so as Hotlink providing 100 USD worth of PokeCoins via HotLink Cash Online and a 10% discount of PokeCoins purchases for Hotlink users who get a ride on the 4 PokeMobiles which will be available during the promotional period.
