The coronavirus pandemic in China has caused most of its citizens to be confined at home. This is the same for students as well, who now have to take lessons online. However, this makes it even more likely for students to skip lessons. To prevent this, a professor decided to make digital avatars to teach his classes.

According to Abacusnews, Shanghai University Fine Art College's Professor Jiang Fei noticed the lack of attendance in his online classes. Thus, he decided to use software that will 'transform' himself into different anime avatars in order to make his classes more interesting for the students. The move paid off and Jiang soon found that students were more enthusiastic for the online classes.

Jiang used a variety of avatars in his lessons, including robots and monsters. Of the many anime avatars used, the one of an anime girl was the most well-received. Perhaps the anime girl stimulates the interest of art students in the subject covered, or maybe the dichotomy of a man with a female avatar is amusing enough to keep them around. Honestly, we don't really know but it's interesting to see technology used in this way.

If you were required to take your lessons online, would anime avatars make you more interested in participating? What are your thoughts on online learning? Let us know on our Facebook page and follow us on TechNave.com for more news like this.
