Proton has officially launched the updated Proton S70 2026 (MC) model, which is now equipped with a new 1.5-litre Turbo 4-cylinder i-GT engine to replace the previous 3-cylinder unit. That said, what should you know about it?
An upgrade to the previous model
For your information, the new engine produces 181PS of power and 290Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.5 seconds with more optimal NVH levels. Major upgrades to the infotainment system include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support via a 12.3-inch screen unit for the Flagship and Flagship X variants.
Besides that, the 2026 Proton S70 (MC) brings newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels, updated LED headlamp units, and the introduction of Ruby Red and a black cabin theme. The on-road selling price without insurance for the 1.5T Executive variant starts from RM73800, while the Premium variant is at RM79800, the Flagship at RM89,800 and the Flagship X at RM94800.
Interestingly, Proton is offering a cash rebate of RM5,000 for the first 2,000 customers who register their vehicles before 31 March 2026, making the effective starting price for the entry-level model RM68,800.
