After weeks of teasers, Proton has officially launched its highly anticipated Proton e.MAS 5, marking a bold new chapter in Malaysia’s electric vehicle (EV) landscape. As the country’s first truly affordable EV, the e.MAS 5 is available in two variants: the Prime and Premium, at a starting price of RM56800.
Pricing and Exclusive Launch Rebates
As we mentioned earlier, the e.MAS 5 comes in two models. The e.MAS 5 Prime, which is the base model, is RM59800 in Peninsular, but RM62800 in East Malaysia. On the other hand, the e.MAS 5 Premium is RM72800 and RM75800 in the Peninsular and East Malaysia, respectively.

That being said, early customers can enjoy an exclusive launch rebate worth up to RM8000 for early bird customers. As for On-The-Road Price (without insurance), the special launch rebate is worth RM3000, bringing the starting price down to RM 56800. Proton is also offering perks such as a complimentary 7 kW home charger, 5 years of free internet data, and a special financing rate of 1.98%. Each purchase includes a 6-year unlimited mileage warranty and an 8-year / 160000 km battery warranty, ensuring long-term confidence for new EV adopters.
Recapping the Specifications and Features
Designed for city living but comfortable for families, the Proton e.MAS 5 offers a B-segment size with C-segment space. With a WLTP range of up to 325 km, it’s ideal for daily commutes and weekend getaways. The car’s 85 kW rear motor delivers 150 Nm of torque, sprinting from 0–50 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, while its 4.95 m turning radius makes it perfect for urban driving. Charging is quick and convenient too — DC fast charging can boost the battery from 30% to 80% in just 21 minutes.
The cabin continues Proton’s push toward smart, connected cars. Drivers get a 14.6-inch Full HD infotainment display paired with an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel, powered by ATLAS Auto. The system supports voice commands in English and Bahasa Melayu, plus wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Through the Proton e.MAS App, users can remotely monitor battery levels, lock or unlock the car, and even pre-cool the cabin before driving.

The minimalist, lounge-like interior features a Flint Grey theme for the Moonstone White, Graphite Silver, and Slate Grey variants, while Premium models in Marble Cream or Quartz Rose come with an elegant Alabaster White interior. Thoughtful touches include 32 storage spaces, a 70 L frunk, and 375 L of boot space (expandable to 1,320 L). A flat rear floor and 2,650 mm wheelbase ensure every passenger enjoys generous comfort.
Safety First, Always
The e.MAS 5 comes equipped with 12 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Blind Spot Detection. The reinforced Star Armor Cage Structure and CATL LFP battery with multi-layer thermal protection provide extra durability and peace of mind.
A National Milestone for Proton’s Electrification Journey
Unveiled at the historic Sentul Depot, the Proton e.MAS 5 made its grand debut just days after being showcased at the ASEAN Summit 2025, witnessed by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and China’s Premier Li Qiang. The launch was graced by top officials from Proton, DRB-HICOM, Geely Auto Group, MITI, and MARii, underscoring the strategic importance of the e.MAS brand in Malaysia’s green mobility roadmap.
