Today, Proton, through its new energy subsidiary PRO-NET, has officially launched the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV in Malaysia. To recap, the model expands the Proton e.MAS lineup with a plug-in hybrid that prioritises electric driving for daily use while retaining hybrid flexibility for longer journeys, targeting Malaysian drivers who want electrification without range anxiety.
Pricing, Launch Offers, and Warranty Coverage
Pricing starts at RM109800 for the Prime, RM123800 for the Premium, and RM129800 for the Premium Plus in Peninsular Malaysia, with slightly higher pricing for East Malaysia. The first 5000 customers receive a special launch rebate of RM4000, reducing the entry price significantly.

Early buyers are also eligible for PRO-NET’s Five Power Packs, which include incentives such as a complimentary home charger, mobile data package, trade-in rebates, scrappage incentives, and an insurance package, subject to terms and availability. The e.MAS 7 PHEV is backed by a six-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 160000 km high voltage battery warranty, reinforcing Proton e.MAS’s long-term ownership proposition.
Recapping the e.MAS 7 PHEV Specifications
Unlike conventional hybrids, the e.MAS 7 PHEV is designed as an electric-first vehicle. Built on the GMA platform, the vehicle benefits from simplified integration and reduced material complexity, resulting in a more refined and efficient driving experience, as its petrol engine functions mainly as a supporting energy source.

At the core of the e.MAS 7 PHEV is the EM-i Drive System, engineered to keep the vehicle running on electric power as much as possible. Power delivery is managed by an 11-in-1 Dedicated Hybrid Transmission that does not rely on traditional gear changes. Instead, it intelligently balances electric and petrol power based on driving conditions, delivering smooth acceleration and EV-like responsiveness.
The Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV uses a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery designed for durability, safety, and heat resistance in tropical climates. Charging is optional for daily driving, as the vehicle’s energy management system automatically selects the most efficient power source even when the battery is not fully charged, helping to keep fuel consumption low.
Proven Long Distance Capability and Lower Ownership Costs

Ahead of its launch, the e.MAS 7 PHEV completed a 1104.5 km journey from Penang and Johor Bahru to Proton’s Centre of Excellence in Subang Jaya without refuelling or recharging. The live-streamed drive ended with a remaining range of 189 km, demonstrating a total achievable range of more than 1-200 km and highlighting the practicality of the electric-first PHEV setup.
PRO-NET estimates that over ten years, fuel and maintenance costs could be around RM29200, compared with roughly RM49800 for a conventional internal combustion SUV. Reduced engine usage, regenerative braking, and EV-style service intervals contribute to total maintenance costs staying below RM8000 over the same period.
Distinctive Exterior and Tech-Focused Interior

Visually, the e.MAS 7 PHEV differentiates itself from the fully electric e.MAS 7 with a full-width illuminated LED front light bar and matching 3D LED tail lights. Revised lighting placement, a redesigned rear boot lid, and 19-inch alloy wheels give the PHEV a more confident and modern stance, while a panoramic sunroof enhances the sense of space and light.
Inside, the cabin follows a minimalist layout with black or white interior themes, 256-colour ambient lighting, and a unique two spoke steering wheel. Features such as a column-mounted gear shifter, rotary control dial, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, large rear windscreen, and a 16-speaker premium audio system are designed to improve comfort and usability for both daily driving and long trips.
Three Variants With Different Battery and Feature Levels

The Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV is offered in three variants. The Prime variant focuses on efficiency and value with essential features. The Premium variant adds more advanced driver assistance systems and comfort features. The Premium Plus variant extends driving range with a larger LFP battery, supports faster DC charging, and includes a panoramic sunroof for a more upscale experience.
