PRO-NET, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PROTON Holdings Berhad, officially announced over 1,500 charging points spanning over 500 selected condominiums and apartments, thus solving one of the most critical issues for urban drivers who live in strata-type homes and do not have access to personal wall chargers. Through the Proton e.MAS app, owners of the Proton e.MAS EV model can now enjoy exclusive residential charging rates as low as RM0.63/kWh.

The expansion should cover major urban areas

For your information, this special promotional rate is offered until 31 December 2026 to help consumers reduce monthly operating costs by up to 30 per cent compared to petrol-powered vehicles (ICE). This integrated charging network covers major urban areas such as the Klang Valley, Penang, Johor, as well as cities around Sabah and Sarawak.

Moreover, PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang stated that this integration allows high-rise residents to search, activate, and make charge payments directly within one platform without having to switch between other third-party applications. This move not only provides high flexibility, but also strengthens the company's goal of accelerating the transition to a more sustainable and practical sustainable mobility landscape in Malaysia.

Could this be a new trend in Malaysia?

Personally, we feel this is a welcome addition for EV owners in Malaysia who live in a condominium. After all, it can be difficult to find an EV charging station, so some owners might charge their EV on their way to work or on the way home from work. What are your thoughts on the news?
