We have talked about the eMas 7 PHEV before. Recently, Proton just lifted the curtain on the full specifications of its first plug-in hybrid SUV. The preview comes roughly a month after the model was first showcased at the Proton Tech Showcase at the company’s Centre of Excellence.
The eMas 7 PHEV Specifications
According to PaulTan.org, the eMas 7 PHEV combines a petrol engine with an electrified powertrain to deliver a combined output of 262PS and 262Nm of torque. The dual-powered setup uses a hybrid transmission that allows efficient distribution between the combustion engine and electric motor. The plug-in hybrid achieves respectable acceleration with both mainstream variants able to complete a 0 to 100km/h sprint in around eight seconds, while the top speed is rated at 170km/h.

Proton is offering two LFP battery sizes, with the smaller battery providing an estimated electric-only range of around 83km under the WLTP cycle and a total combined WLTP range of approximately 943km. The larger battery boosts the electric range to around 146km and extends the estimated combined WLTP range to just under 1000km. Fast charging capability has also been confirmed, with DC charging supported up to 60kW on the larger pack.
Design and Platform Details
While the eMas 7 PHEV retains a similar exterior design to its EV sibling, Proton has implemented styling cues that give the hybrid a more conventional presence. Built on the same GMA platform as other eMas models, the PHEV has been engineered with structural reinforcements to separate the fuel, electrical and exhaust systems. It measures just over 4.7 metres in length with a wheelbase of 2755mm.

Proton has not yet fully revealed the cabin, but the PHEV is expected to share many interior elements with the eMas 7 EV. Features likely include a large central touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, support for smartphone connectivity and a suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies. Boot space and storage capacity are also anticipated to be generous, benefiting from the hybrid layout.
