The Public Works Ministry has announced that users of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) who go through the Section 1 toll plaza (Banting Interchange) will be enjoying free toll for a month. The free toll starts from Merdeka Day tomorrow (12.01am 31 August) until 11.59pm 29 September.
Bernama quoted Pubic Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi as saying that the toll fee exemption is in conjunction with the 67th National Day celebration. It’s also in celebration of the 1st anniversary of the implementation of the MyJalan initiative by the government.
However, Nanta clarified that the free toll is only for WCE Section 1 highway and doesn’t involve other tolls connected to the expressway. The Public Works Minister also touted the opening of the 12.5 kilometre (km) long highway that connects Jalan Dengkil - Banting (FT31) to the SKVE Highway can be a catalyst for economic development and progress of the southern region of Selangor, especially for the Kuala Langat area.
