Qualcomm's latest chipset for mobile devices was announced earlier today, offering smartphone manufacturers a new option for the mid-range category. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 is a direct successor to last year's Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. Let's take a look at what's new or upgraded.
Performance boost
According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 has the same 1+3+4 CPU core architecture as before. However, its 1x Prime Cortex-A720 core has a faster clock speed (2.7 GHz vs 2.5 GHz). It also features an updated Adreno GPU running at a higher GPU frequency. Overall, this chipset is expected to deliver 7% improved CPU and GPU performance.

What else is new?
The performance upgrade doesn't sound like much, but the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 does offer upgrades in other areas. First, the supported RAM frequency is higher (4200 MHz), resulting in a higher max bandwidth (33.6 Gbit/s). The new chipset also supports Wi-Fi 7 and ultra-wide displays, with a maximum resolution of 1300x2900px and a 144Hz refresh rate. The Qualcomm Spectra ISP (Image Signal Processor) and Hexagon NPU (Neural Processing Unit) were also updated.
New devices soon
Rumours suggest that the first device to feature the new Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset is the Redmi Note 15 Pro+, which is due later this week on 21 August 2025. We'll find out how well this chipset performs soon enough. In the meantime, stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
