Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G chipset mobile platform announced for enhancing mobile gaming experience

Just when we thought Qualcomm will focus on their Snapdragon 888 chipsets, the company has unexpectedly a brand new Snapdragon 870 5G chipset mobile platform. From the tech specs and key features, it almost looks like that it's a small upgrade from the Snapdragon 865+ but anyway, here's everything you need to know.

The Snapdragon 870 5G chipset features a Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System and the Qualcomm FastConnect 6800 Subsystem. This obviously allows any mobile phone to get connected in 5G with speeds up to 7.5 Gbps, as well as supporting mmWave support, Sub-6 GHz, TDD, FDD, and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS). With FastConnect 6800 Subsystem on board, it delivers a faster WiFi 6 and Bluetooth audio experiences.

Furthermore, it's also using Qualcomm's 5th gen Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engine and this includes the Qualcomm Hexagon 698 Processor with Hexagon Tensor Accelerator. The Kryo 585 CPU core is improved which can clock up to 3.2GHz which looks great for mobile gaming, and even more so with Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite Gaming. The latter includes better HDR game rendering featuring 10-bit colour depth and 2020 colour gamut.
