Qualcomm recently announced that they are working with Honor, OPPO, Motorola, Nothing, vivo and Xiaomi on a satellite based messaging/communication platform called Snapdragon Satellite at MWC 2023. No exact Malaysia release dates about when we’ll be able to send and receive messages via satellite but it could mean the ability to communicate in areas without any telco coverage.

From the image, it seems like you will be able to send an Emergency message and Send or Receive text messages but it’s unclear if the Snapdragon Satellite platform will be able to handle images or videos like other messaging platforms. Technical details were also sparse but according to Qualcomm the Snapdragon Satellite will be available across upcoming RF modems.

Of course, it also means that you probably need clear skies for a better shot at getting and sending satellite messages, so we’re unsure how well Snapdragon Satellite might work in Malaysia’s jungles and rural areas. What do you think? Would this be useful in Malaysia? Share your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com
